The Swanpool Nature Reserve and Beach area of Falmouth is a favourite place for visitors and locals to enjoy, summer and winter.

Many species of bird may be seen at Swanpool, over 100 types have been recorded. Resident swans are ever-present on the lake along with a variety of ducks and water hens. The Trembling Sea Mat is unique to Swanpool.

There is the Beach Cafe and the Three Mackerel Restaurant Bar overlooking the bay ... providing for most tastes.

On the beach there are plenty of activity options, from Kayaks to Crazy Golf, catering for both young and old. The beach itself is safe for children and beach huts can be hired.

Falmouth itself is a popular destination for visitors to Cornwall. There is plenty to do, no matter the weather.

Pendennis Castle sits on the headland at the entrance to Carrick Roads and was built at the time of Henry VIII. The castle and St. Maws Castle guarded the great natural harbour ... the third largest in the world.

There are various boat trips you can take from Falmouth Harbour ... Short trip over to St. Maws is very popular as well as trips up the Fal to Truro or Smuggler's Cottage, also the Helford River, taking in Frenchman's Creek.

There are plenty of sandy beaches to choose from ... Gullynvase being the largest where there are a cafes and snack bars. There are an abundance of Hotels and Bed & Breakfast establishments to choose from, many with glorious sea views.

Falmouth has its fair share of restaurants and pubs serving good value meals. The Three Mackerel featured in this website probably has the most spectacular views. In town there are plenty to choose from, naturally a lot specialising in seafood. The Warehouse tucked in the corner of Custom House Quay is one of the most popular ... also the Seafarers and Bistro de la Mer on the main street. If you prefer fast-food there are plenty to choose from ... Cornish Pasties being the most popular.

The recently opened National Maritime Museum Cornwall has proved popular and is clearly going to be a major attraction for tourists to Falmouth. Ten Pin Bowling comes to Falmouth with The Ocean Bowl also a new addition to the town's facilities with 12 lanes and also a spacious bar/restaurant area.

The Falmouth Arts Centre has a year-round programme which includes theatre and films. The town library also houses the Falmouth Art Gallery. This can be found in the town square "The Moor" which has recently had a beneficial face-lift. This is the main area for bus pick-ups and also a taxi rank. In summer there is a "road train" which journeys round the town and Pendennis Point.

From town, follow the road round to Swanpool where there are plenty of activities. Hire canoes, surf skis, water ski-ing, also crazy golf and climbing activities for kids. Carrying on past The Three Mackerel and you quickly come upon Falmouth Golf Club which is open to visitors. The views over Falmouth Bay make this well worth a visit. If you carry on past the golf club you will see Falmouth Garden Centre and next to that is a Pitch n Put course.
